The building looks rather small for a cathedral. It is interesting because of its unusual design with so many arches along the side. It should have been kept in good repair as it would have been taken over by the Church of Scotland after the Reformation. Perhaps the Protestants were not so concerned about keeping their cathredals looking good. The Presbyterians did not like them to look too much like Catholic ones.
